It was originally going to be published by Atari, but the publishing rights went to Sierra on April 20, 2006.
TimeShift was significantly different, you can try 2 original concept PC demos by Atari.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- TIMESHIFT - ATARI PRE-RELEASE DEMO [577 MB]
(To make it work on modern systems: Copy DDraw.dll file into bin folder)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- TIMESHIFT - ATARI SP BETA [1,79 GB]
- 7 SP LEVELS (Mini game with several interesting cinematics)
- DRM: TryMedia ActiveMark (Crack included)
RARE DVD given by Atari to some users in community forums.
(To make it work on modern systems: Right click on TimeShift C1.exe or TimeShift C2.exe and go to
Properties / Compatibility / Run this program in compatibility mode for / Windows 95
also check Disable fullscreen optimizations)

Always wanted to try this version, but it doesn't work for me.
Won't launch for me on Windows 10. Even after enabling compatibility for Windows 95/98/ME and Disabling Fullscreen Optmizations

Always wanted to try this version but I'm having a hard time
Whenever I click on one of the .exe files, it tells me that it can't find EAX.DLL. I have no clue where to find that, though -- at least from a safe source.

The SP Beta works fine on 64-bit systems
The seven level SP Beta is quite the find for historical preservation. This Atari concept beta looks completely different than the redone final commercial Sierra release. It works fine in Windows 7 64 & Windows 10 64 with some compatibility adjustments to the TimeShift executable file. Set it to "Windows 95" or "Windows 98 / Windows ME" compatibility mode. Additionally, check "Run this program as an administrator". Specifically for Windows 10 64, also check "Disable fullscreen optimizations" so the game closes properly when you exit.
As for the one level Atari TimeShift demo, here are the steps you need to take for it to work in Windows 64-bit:
1.) Download a video driver utility called "dgVoodoo 2" and use version 2.54. It can be found here:
http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html >> (Note: You might receive a false positive from your browser that the dgVoodoo website is harmful. It is not. Dege is a well respected developer of dgVoodoo 2 and his software & website are completely safe. He regularly posts over at the
Vogons.org forums helping people with his software.)
2.) Install the TimeShift demo.
3.) Unzip the contents of dgVoodoo 2 into a folder of your choice.
4.) Go into that folder and copy the "dgVoodooCpl" exe and the contents of the "MS" folder all into the TimeShift "bin" folder. To be clear, there should be four files copied from the dgVoodoo 2 folder to the game's "bin" folder where the "TimeShift_Demo" exe file resides.
5.) In the game's "bin" folder run the "dgVoodooCpl" exe file and go to the DirectX tab. Set the VRAM to "1024 MB" and hit the "OK" button to close dgVoodoo 2.
6.) Now you can play the demo without issue. Enjoy!
